Choley Masala a popular north Indian dish served with puri or bhatura can be eaten in breakfast and even at lunch.

Required ingredients

  • 2 cups soaked kabuli chana(chickpeas)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 large onion paste
  • 3 medium sized tomato paste
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp amchoor powder( dry mango powder)
  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt to taste
  • oil as required

Directions & How to

  • Pressure cook kabuli chana, salt and turmeric powder in 2 cups water till very soft.
  • Take 1/2 cup boiled chickpeas and mash it with a potato masher to make a paste. Keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add bay leaf.
  • Add onion paste, cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add ginger garlic paste ,cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Now add tomato paste and cook till oil seperates.
  • Add the boiled chickpeas, its paste, red chilli, garam masala , and amchoor powders.
  • Mix well cover and let it cook for 15-20 minutes on low heat.
  • Serve with puri or bhatura.
