About this recipe
Sulsuley is a tasty and easy to make sweet dish.
Required ingredients
- 1 cup split gram dal(urad dal)
- 1 tbsp rice
- 1 small pinch of baking soda
- Oil to deep fry
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups of water
- 1 green cardamom, pounded
- 1 pinch yellow food colour
Directions & How to
- Wash and soak dal and rice together and soak for at least 6 hours.
- Strain the dal and grind to a very fine paste, adding as little water as possible.
- Now add the baking soda and beat dal batter with a wire whisk for 5 minutes or with an electric beater for 2-3 minutes.
- Heat oil in a wok, drop spoonful of batter in the oil and fry till crisp. The batter you drop in the oil should stay under oil for few seconds before its sizzles and comes to the top.
- For the syrup add all the ingredients together in a saucepan. Bring it to a boil once and cook for 3-4 minutes on low heat.
- Add the dal balls to the hot syrup. Let it stand for at least 1 hour befors serving.
