About this recipe
Apple jam is rich and tasty accompaniment with bread slices or paranthas. It is healthy as homemade jams do not contain any artificial preservatives.
Required ingredients
- 5 apples (approx. 700 g)
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- 2 lemons’ juice
Directions & How to
- Wash, peel and core the apples. Thinly slice the apples.
- In a pan add water and sliced apples. Cover and cook till the apples are very soft.
- Let it cool down. Transfer to a blender along with the liquid and blend till smooth.
- In a heavy bottomed non-reactive pan combine the apple pulp, lemon juice and sugar and cook on medium to high heat stirring in between.
- Cook about 30-45 minutes until you get thick consistency. The jam should be shiny and bit translucent.
- Let it cool for 10-15 minutes. Then transfer to sterilized jars.
- Keep stirring in between to prevent the jam from burning.
- This will yield approximately 500 g jam.
