Apple jam is rich and tasty accompaniment with bread slices or paranthas. It is healthy as homemade jams do not contain any artificial preservatives.

Required ingredients

  • 5 apples (approx. 700 g)
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 lemons’ juice

Directions & How to

  • Wash, peel and core the apples. Thinly slice the apples.
  • In a pan add water and sliced apples. Cover and cook till the apples are very soft.
  • Let it cool down. Transfer to a blender along with the liquid and blend till smooth.
  • In a heavy bottomed non-reactive pan combine the apple pulp, lemon juice and sugar and cook on medium to high heat stirring in between.
  • Cook about 30-45 minutes until you get thick consistency. The jam should be shiny and bit translucent.
  • Let it cool for 10-15 minutes. Then transfer to sterilized jars.

Notes

  • Keep stirring in between to prevent the jam from burning.
  • This will yield approximately 500 g jam.
