About this recipe
Teen Dal is a regular day to day dish. It is a delight for vegetarians as well as non vegetarians.
Required ingredients
- ½ cup chana dal
- ½ cup urad dal
- ¼ cup moong dal
- Salt to taste
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 medium onion sliced
- 1 medium tomato sliced
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp amchur powder
- ½ tsp garam masala powder
- ½ tsp red chilli powder
- 2-3 tbsp mustard oil or any other
Directions & How to
- Wash and soak the dals for 2 hours.
- Pressure cook the dals in about 2 cups of water along with bay leaf, salt and turmeric powder for 2 whistles on high heat and then 10-15 minutes on simmer. The dals should be very tender.
- Heat mustard oil in a deep sauce pan. Add sliced onions and fry till golden and crispy.
- Next add the tomatoes and cook till they turn mushy. Then add ginger garlic paste and sauté for few seconds till cooked.
- Add all the masala powders and 2 tbsp of water mix well. Add the boiled dal; mix well and simmer for 5 minutes. Check seasonings.
- Serve with roti.
