About this recipe

Chicken balls in hot sauce, fried chicken dumplings simmered in a  hot and spicy sauce. Serve it as a main course dish.  It’s a good accompaniment to Chinese rice dishes.

Required ingredients

  • 500 grams boneless chicken - cut into pieces
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp soya sauce
  • 1 tsp red chilli flakes
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp corn flour
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1.1/2 tbsp finely chopped garlic
  • 1/2 tbsp chopped ginger
  • 1 tsp red chilli flakes
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 tsp red chilli paste
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 1 tsp soya sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 tsp red chilli sauce
  • 1/8 ajinomoto/ mono sodium glutamate
  • 2 tbsp corn flour mixed in a little water
  • 1 cup water
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh greens of spring onions for garnishing
  • 3 tbsp oil + extra oil for deep frying the chicken balls

Directions & How to

  • Mix all the ingredients in the food processor and grind it to a paste.
  • Keep it aside for 10 minutes.
  • Make small balls of it and deep fry till done.
  • Remove on absorbent paper and keep aside.
  • In a small bowl mix vinegar, soya sauce, tomato sauce, tomato puree and  red chilli sauce and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a wok. Add ginger, garlic and chilli flakes and fry it till golden.
  • Add onions and saute it for a minute.
  • Mix in red chilli paste and cook it for another minute.
  • Mix in the sauce mixture, saute and stir it well.
  • Put salt and ajinomoto.
  • Add a cup of water and corn flour paste and cook it till it thickens.
  • Now add the fried chicken balls and let it simmer for a minute.
  • Garnish with chopped spring onions greens and serve hot.
