About this recipe
Chickpea dal has is rich in Indian flavours and it has very earthy taste.
Required ingredients
- One cup chick pea soaked overnight
- 1 tsp. ginger garlic paste
- 2 medium tomatoes (1 slice and other cut in big chunks and seeds removed)
- 1 medium onion finely sliced
- ½ tea spoon turmeric powder
- 1 tsp garam masala powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- ½ tsp dry mango powder (aam choor)
- Salt to taste
- 1 tbsp. oil
- Lemon juice
Directions & How to
- Boil chick peas with salt and turmeric till soft and mushy.
- Let it cool, then puree the chick peas, keep aside.
- Heat oil in deep pan, add onion and fry till golden.
- Add the ginger garlic paste, sauté for 1 minute.
- Add the sliced tomato and cooked till they are mushy and start to form paste like consistency.
- Now add all the powder masalas and cook for 2-3 minutes
- Add the puree chick peas, mix well and adjust the consistency if required, let it cook for 5 minutes on low heat.
- Char the other tomato on hot girdle.
- Add lemon juice in dal and garnish with charred tomato and serve.
