Naan Khatai are famous Indian cookies which are easy to make at home and  you will be able to serve freshly baked yummy cookies with tea.

Required ingredients

  • ½ cup maida (refined Flour)
  • ¼ cup besan
  • 3 tbsp suji (semolina)
  • ½ cup ghee (clarified butter) or vegetable shortening
  • ½ cup sugar, powdered
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp vanilla essence
  • Some chopped almonds to garnish

Directions & How to

  • Mix  maida, besan, suji and baking powder together in a bowl.
  • In a separate bowl beat ghee and sugar together till pale and creamy and then stir in the vanila essence.
  • Slowly add the dry mix and knead a soft dough. This dough should be soft but it will not be pliable. Cover the dough and let it rest for about half an hour in the refrigerator.
  • Make 12- 15 smooth balls, flatten slightly with your palm and press chopped almonds on each naan khatai and then place them in a greased baking tray.
  •  Preheat the oven at 180* C and bake the naan khatai for 15-20 minutes till they are crisp.
  • Place them on a cooling rack to cool. These can be kept in air tight containers for over a month.
