Mutton Lazeez is an amazingly simple dish with lots of flavors. The marination makes it juicy and tender.

Required ingredients

  • 500 g mutton pieces (with bones)

    For the marination

  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 cup curd (sour kind)
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste

    For onion paste

  • ¼ cup oil
  • 2 large onions, finely sliced
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp black peppercorns
  • 2 black cardamoms

Directions & How to

  • Mix all the ingredients for the marinade in a large glass bowl. Add in the mutton pieces and rub well to coat the marinade properly.
  • Cover and keep aside in refrigerator for at least 24 hours.
  • Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan and fry the onions till they are golden and crisp. Add cumin seeds, peppercorns and cardamoms also and fry for 1 minute.
  • Strain the onion and whole garam masala onto kitchen paper towel and when they cool down grind them to fine paste.
  • Heat up the same oil and add the marinated mutton stir well and cook on high heat for 5-7 minutes.
  • Lower the heat, cover the pot properly and let it cook till mutton is completely tender for about 30 minutes.
  • Add the onion paste at last and mix well. Serve with chapattis.
