About this recipe

Keema matar is minced cooked with green peas, a very popular and tasty north Indian relish.

Required ingredients

  • ½ kg minced meat – you can use any ground meat of your choice mutton, beef or lamb.
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 2 medium onions sliced finely
  • 2 medium tomatoes chopped
  • 3-4 green chillies chopped finely
  • ½ cup yoghurt – well beaten
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ cup water
  • Salt as per taste
  • 3 -4 tbsp oil
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing

Directions & How to

  • Mix ginger garlic paste, black pepper powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder in yoghurt and marinate the minced meat in this for 2-3 hours.
  • Heat oil in a thick bottomed pan, add  cumin seeds, when it crackles add onions and fry it till golden brown. Add marinated mince and stir fry it well for 5 minutes breaking any lumps if formed. Add chopped tomatoes, green chillies and salt and let it cook on slow flame for around 15 minutes. Add around ½  cup of water if needed.
  • Now add green peas, sprinkle garam masala powder and cook it for further 8-10 minutes.
  • Serve hot garnished with fresh coriander leaves.
