About this recipe
Karela Chaat is a bitter gourd shaped savoury snacks served with various chutneys. Karela chaat is very tasty and very popular chaat in north India.
Required ingredients
- Namakpara dough, made with 2 cups maida ( see recipe Namakpara)
- Oil to deep fry
- 1 cup choley, boiled
- ½ cup imli ki mithi chutney
- ½ cup amchur ki khatti chutney
- Green chutney as required
- 1 cup beaten curd
- 1 tbsp. chaat masala
- Some chopped coriander and green chillies to garnish
Directions & How to
- Make 12 -15 smooth balls of the dough.
- Roll out a disc of 4 -5 inch diameter on a lightly floured surface.
- Leaving 1 cm around the edges, make horizontal cuts onto the disc. Lift from the top and bottom of horizontal lines and roll to give it shape of karelas.
- Heat oil in a wok and deep fry them, few at a time till golden and crisp.
- Place two karelas in a plate. Add enough choley so that it covers the karelas.
- Add 2 tbsp. curd and drizzle chutneys. Sprinkle chaat masala and garnish with coriander and chillies and serve.
