Concord Grapes Jam will be loved by your kids and the best part this jam does not have any added preservatives.

Required ingredients

  • 500 gm concord grapes
  • 2 cups sugar
  • Juice of 1 lemon

Directions & How to

  • Cut the grapes in halves.
  • Take a deep heavy bottomed sauce pan; add the grapes and half cup of water. Let it cook on low heat till grapes become pulpy for about half an hour.
  • Mash the grapes very well and strain through a sieve using a wooden spoon to push down the pulp.
  • Add 2-3 tbsp. of left over mushy grapes from the sieve to the grape juice. Discard the rest.
  • Now put it back to boil, add sugar in 4 batches, mixing after each addition and without letting its temperature come down.
  • Add lemon juice and bring back to a rolling boil while stirring continuously.
  • To check jam is done, drip the jam with the spoon, if it is syrupy, jam needs more cooking, if it drops like thick pulpy drops, it is done.
  • Store jam in a sterilized jar. This can be easily for 6-8 months in the refrigerator.
