Guava Jam is tastier and better than store bought jams. No preservatives make it a definite healthier jam.

Required ingredients

  • 2 kg guavas mix of green and over ripe guavas (will yield about 5 cups of juice)
  • 2 ½ cup sugar
  • Orange color, optional
  • 1 tbsp. lemon juice
  • Water enough to cover the guavas completely

Directions & How to

  • Cut and deseed the guavas, roughly chop them.
  • Place guavas in a big sauce pan add enough water so that its 2 inches above guavas. Let it cook till they are completely soft for about 1-2 hours.
  • Now strain the guava through sieve push down the pulp with a wooden spatula to extract all the juice.
  • Add sugar, lemon juice and color (if using) to the juice and cook on medium to high heat till it thickens.
  • Store jam in a sterilized jar. It can be stored for 6-8 months in the refrigerator.
