About this recipe
Kadhi is a tasty yoghurt based curry, popular all over India for its tangy and spicy flavour.
Required ingredients
- 3/4th cup of gram flour
- 2-3 crushed garlic cloves
- 2-3 green chillies
- 1/4 tsp red chilli powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 cup sour yoghurt + 750 ml water
- Salt to taste
- 1 cup gram flour
- 2 green chillies chopped
- 1 small onion chopped
- A pinch of baking soda
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1/2 cumin seeds
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 whole red chilli
- 7-10 curry leaves
Directions & How to
- In a deep sauce pan mix all the ingredients for the gravy . Do not let any lumps form.
- On high heat bring to a boil, while stirring continuously, then lower the heat and cook for about 25-35 minutes or till it thickens stirring occasionally.
- Mix gram flour with water to form a thick batter. Beat well for 3-4 minutes with an electric beater.[ To check besan is well beaten, add 1 drop of batter in a glass of water, it should float on top]
- Mix onion chillies and salt
- Heat the oil , drop spoonfuls of batter and fry till golden brown and crisp. Keep aside.
- When kadhi is ready add the dumplings
- Heat oil, add red chilli, when it sizzles and changes colour, add cumin and mustard seeds and curry leaves, immediately add it to kadhi and cover.
