Palak paneer is one of the most popular north Indian dish with loads of taste, vitamins and calcium.

Required ingredients

  • 100 g paneer ( cottage cheese)
  • 250 g spinach leaves
  • 1 medium sized   onion paste
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 2-3 green chillies chopped or paste
  • 1 tsp garam masala  powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Mustard oil (you can use any other oil)

Directions & How to

  • Remove stalks and blanch the spinach leaves.
  • Grind the spinach to a paste.
  • Heat oil in a kadhai; add onion paste, fry till it turns light brown.
  • Now add ginger garlic  paste and cook till it leaves oil. You may need to add few drops of water to avoid masala from burning.
  • Add the spinach paste and let it cook on medium heat till oil floats on top.
  • Add green chillies and paneer mix very well with light hands. Sprinkle garam masala and serve.
Some people like fried paneer. stir fry in a little oil till sides are browned and then put in a bowl of water to soften it. Proceed as in the recipe.
