Fish Curry (Awadhi Style) is a tangy and delicious dish, tastes great with rice.

Required ingredients

  • 500 gm fish pieces
  • Few fenugreek seeds
  • 2 tbsp. oil
  • Oil to deep fry

For the Curry paste

  • 1 small onion
  • 3 medium sized tomatoes
  • 1 tsp. ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp. red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp. coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp. garam masala powder
  • 1 tbsp. thick sour curd (optional)
  • Salt to taste

For the marinade

  • 1 tsp. white vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp. gram flour
  • Salt to taste

Directions & How to

  • Mix all the ingredients for the marinade to the fish and let it marinate for 1/2 an hour.
  • Heat oil in a wok to deep fry and fry fish pieces in small batches till crisp, keep aside.
  • Put all the ingredinets for the curry paste in a food processor and make a fine paste.
  • Heat 2 tbsp. oil add fenugreek seeds, saute for 10-15 seconds.
  • Add the curry paste and cook till oil floats on top.
  • Gently add the fish pieces to the gravy. Add 1/2 cup of water to adjust the thickness of gravy.
  • Cook for 2 minutes.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with rice.
