Chicken hyderabadi is a luscious and delicious recipe with spicy and nutty flavour. Perfect for dinner or lunch as a main dish.

Required ingredients

  • 1 chicken in small pieces
  • 1 large onion, finely sliced
  • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp groundnut paste
  • 2 tbsp desiccated coconut paste
  • 2 tsp poppy seeds paste
  • 1 cup thick curd
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tbsp oil

Directions & How to

  • Apply 1 tsp ginger garlic paste and salt to chicken pieces and marinate about 30 minutes.
  • Heat half of the oil in a wok and fry onions till light golden brown, add chicken and fry on medium heat till they are well browned.
  • In another pan heat rest of the oil, add ginger garlic paste, sauté for a minute.
  • Add groundnut, poppy seed and coconut paste, sauté for couple of minutes.
  • Add salt, turmeric, chilli powder and curd. Mix well and cook till oil separates.
  • Now add the chicken pieces, mix well and cook till chicken is cooked through.
  • Serve with rumali roti.
