Chana dal is  full of protein and taste. Serve with rice or roti it will be loved by all.

Required ingredients

  • 1 cup soaked Chana dal (split gram dal)
  • 1.5 cup water
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • ¼ tsp chilli powder
  • 1 bay leaf
  • ½ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp garam masala powder
  • ½ tsp dry mango powder (amchoor powder)

 For tempering

  • 1 small onion finely sliced
  • ¼ tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 whole dry  red chilli
  • 2 tbsp. oil

Directions & How to

  • Boil Chana daal along with water, ginger garlic paste, chilli and turmeric powders and bay leaf till very soft, mushy and thick.
  • Mix in garam masala and dry mango powder.
  • Heat oil in a deep frying pan; add red chilli, cumin seeds and onions. Fry till they are golden.
  • Pour the hot dal into the pan and cover immediately.
  •  Serve with rice or chapati.
